Pentecostal Day cum International Worship Service

Pentecostal Day cum International Worship Service

Do you know that today is Pentecostal Day? I never knew that there are churches which celebrate or commemorate this day until I came to this church. It was originated from Acts 2:4, when the Holy Spirit came upon the 120 believers at the upper room.

Ichininomiya Church is one of those churches who celebrate this special day although the church members don’t speak in tongues. For the first time in this church’s history, we had an International Worship Service. The pastors wanted us to experience what it was like on that day, with people from different countries.

So, the first part of worship was in Japanese and English. Ps Yamaguchi led in Japanese and I support sang in English. We sang “We want to see Jesus lifted high”, “I will worship”, “One Way” and “Open the eyes of my heart”. Next, he gave his testimony in Korean and our Korean friend translated his testimony into Japanese. HAha. After that, we sang “Still” and “Shout to the Lord” in Mandarin, Japanese and Portuguese. Finally, “Amazing Grace” was sung in English, Portuguese, Korean, and Japanese. We practised for this day several months ago.

The sermon was preached in English by Ps Masami and my friend Miho interpreted it into Japanese. He started by telling us that God created different languages to worship Him. Wow! Then, he read the scripture in Greek, German and finally, Japanese. I interpreted the sermon into Mandarin for a Chinese man. We ended the service by singing the Lord’s Prayer in Japanese.

I pray that the Holy Spirit will begin to pour out His Spirit upon this church, as like in the days of the apostles in the book of Acts. Amen!
